Season Changes Mean Skin Changes

So spring has finally sprung in Ireland. Hurrah! It can mean however that you need to alter your skin care regime, as our skin needs change with each season. The change from winter to spring can wreck havoc on your skin but fear not, we will take you through the important steps of adjusting your skin care for spring and summer.

Dreaded Dry Skin

Exfoliate:

To keep your skin hydrated, smooth and glowing, exfoliation is key. Whether it is a gentle every day product like our AK Bio Nature Orange Peel, or a stronger treatment like our AK Peel once a month. Keeping the build up of dry, flaky skin at bay is essential. Think logically, your moisturiser will have to penetrate that layer of dry, dead cells before it can moisturise your skin effectively.

Hydrate:

Hydration is also key in combating dry skin. If you find that your moisturiser simply doesn’t do enough for you it doesn’t necessarily mean that it isn’t suitable. Think about adding a product under or over your moisturiser to enhance the effects. Using serums under your moisturiser like our Bio Nature 7 Plant Serum can increase the moisture levels in your skin hugely. Also, especially for spring and summertime, ensure you are sun smart by applying SPF over your moisturiser daily. AK has SPF’s of 10, 25 and 50 so the choice is yours dependent on your sun exposure levels.

Combination & Acne Prone Skin

Combination skin that is prone to acne can sometimes be tricky to treat. Ideally you need to treat the normal skin differently to the areas that breakout.

Exfoliate:

Again exfoliation is key. In this case, a resurfacing product that has natural acids is better than a scrub exfoliation product. You don’t wont to use anything rough that is too abrasive on breakouts causing the heads off any pustular spots to come off. This allows the bacteria inside to spread and cause more spots in the area. A product that you can apply like a mask and leave on for 10-15 minutes is ideal. The active acids slowly eat away at any dead cells and can also digest some of the congestion under the skin that is causing the breakouts. Again, having an AK Peel once a month would be ideal.

Treat Acne:

Don’t forget to use an acne product that doesn’t dry the skin out. The AK Active Serum can be used on breakout areas under your moisturiser. By just applying it to the problematic areas, you can ensure the rest of your skin remains hydrated and healthy.

Sun Protect Factor:

Again, especially for spring and summertime, ensure you are sun smart by applying SPF over your moisturiser daily. AK has SPF’s of 10, 25 and 50 so the choice is yours dependent on your sun exposure levels.

Normal Skin

Your just perfect…ensure you are using your SPF daily but otherwise, carry on as you are. We’re not jealous at all. Sigh!
